嘉宾简介:

Katrina spent most of her career in the financial services industry. She began her auditing career as a chartered accountant. She previously worked at Newton Fund Management in London and later joined Westpac Trust Fund.

After seven years of experience in independent small-scale accounting, Katrina became the Chief Financial Officer of the New Zealand National Party. Her experience serving as a member of parliament for two terms further deepened her profound understanding of the legislative process and its impact on policy-making. During this period, she served as the chairperson of the special committee and as a member of the business special committee during significant legislative changes in the financial services industry.

After the merger of three major industry institutions into this professional organization, Katrina served as the first CEO. During her tenure, the institution developed into a pivotal spokesperson for the financial advisory industry, exerting significant influence on major legislative and regulatory changes, and providing high-quality professional development. In addition, she is committed to enhancing the value of financial advisors to consumers based on research, creating conditions for more New Zealanders to seek high-quality financial services, ensure financial health, increase wealth, and achieve well-being.

讲座摘要:

In 2022, Queensland and New South Wales in Australia experienced severe flooding, with over 20000 homes submerged. Cities such as Brisbane received record breaking rainfall, resulting in economic losses exceeding $5 billion, with multiple fatalities and thousands of people displaced. This disaster exposed many problems in the insurance industry.

Consumers are unaware of policy details and claims progress, and the silence of insurance companies exacerbates public anxiety and helplessness.

Through in-depth investigation, it was found that the problem is shocking: Brisbane residents have been waiting for compensation without success; Rural households are unable to purchase insurance due to high premiums and can only bear losses on their own; Some people have encountered "traps" such as failure to compensate for damages caused by flash floods, delayed claims, and skyrocketing insurance premiums after disasters, but regulators have not intervened in a timely manner.

At present, the insurance industry is making every effort to improve: optimizing the claims process through cutting-edge technology to accelerate speed; Proactive communication to ensure consumers have a clear understanding of insurance and claims information.
